The Community Employment (CE) programme is designed to help people who are long-term unemployed (or otherwise disadvantaged) to get back to work by offering part-time and temporary work placements in local communities.
Mayo North East sponsors two Community Employment (CE) schemes on behalf of the Department of Social Protection (DSP) as follows:

North Mayo Community Employment (CE) Scheme Social care for the elderly and disadvantaged through the provision of meals on wheels.
Recreational facilities and caretaker services in the Community Centres.
Back to education and further education opportunities for local participants.
The introduction of visual arts to the wider community through a community run art studio.
Resource work and administration back up to community groups.
After school care for primary school children in community childcare facilities.
Care for pre-school children in community childcare facilities.
Community support for disadvantaged areas, groups and ethnic minorities
Environmental work in the community
Tour guiding and customer care service in the Davitt Museum
Secretarial, clerical, administration and book keeping support for community development
Support, organisation and management of community events and festivals
Environmental and building works for local authority
Biodiversity, sensory garden and various projects for local community groups

Football pitches and community centre maintenance
